I’ m still taking care of homeless people in Detroit. There are homeless people in the area of the bar where I work. They have have obvious developmental damage. I was working at the Justice In Mental Health Organization when the State mental hospitals shut down. “That’s all I have to say about that.”

I don’t have the capacity to do street outreach on a large scale yet, but I can still help a little bit at a time.

I need help moving the last of the donations out of the basement at Fort St., but I don’t think I can coordinate it. I have about another 15-20 feet U-Haul worth of clothes, etc. to get out of the basement at Fort St. Church. There are also some socks and a few things that need to be bagged up. I just can’t seem to complete the process. The rare opportunities I may have to go down to Detroit, I don’t have anyone to come with me. It’s so overwhelming when I think about tackling it by myself. I haven’t found that ultra inspiration yet. It better hit me quick!

I think I’m going to have to hire a moving company to carry the last of the donations up those three flights of stairs, into a moving truck, and then deliver them to Purple Heart for me.

Suggestions?

The mission has not yet ended.

They are there. The homeless. The vagrants. The lost sheep.

There I am. I have a blanket and a brownie. I have hope. I have enough hope to share with the entire class.

I’ll give them everything I got until everyone has as much as I do.

Because that’s how we do it in Detroit.

Amen.
